As August fades into Fall it’s hard to not feel the year slowly slipping away. 8 months! 8 months have come and gone and where are we? Are we in a better place than the year found us? Perhaps worse for the wear? Or maybe, just maybe, somewhere in between? In the famous words of the character Ferris Bueller, from the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, ‘Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.’ Perhaps this is “one of those years,” that is moving so fast you haven’t had time to look around, and now you feel like you are finally ready to embrace the view and finally get back to or get started focusing on you!
We love movies, like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off because it reminds us to live life to the fullest! It’s motivating! Even more than that, we love seeing real-life celebrities (not just actors pretending) doing things we want to do, wish we could do, or even the things we already enjoy doing. If you are looking for some health and wellness motivation for the Fall, here are some celebrities who are maybe a lot like you or can inspire you to try the class you always wanted to or to get back at it!
Did you know that Zumba® isn’t just world-famous, it’s the choice dance fitness workout for many of the rich and famous too! According to Yahoo.com these celebrities “can’t get enough” Zumba: Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Khloe and Kortney Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, and the list goes on and on! Why are the stars flooding the dance floor? Jennifer Lopez was quoted in her Red Book magazine interview sharing that, “As women, we tend to give away a lot. We take care of a lot of people, and we can forget to take care of ourselves. If that means once a week you’re going to go off without the kids or without anybody…join a Zumba® class. If you love a great Spinning® class or have always dreamed of taking one, you should! We are offering Spin® at The Wellness Center this fall on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, which means you can be just like Lady Gaga, Vanessa Hudgens, Demi Lovato, David Beckham, or even Jennifer Aniston because they love Spinning® too! It’s not just a celebrity workout, it’s also proven to help you feel better! A study by The Lancet Psychiatry researchers shares (https://www.thelancet.com) that over three years of following 1.2 million adults and tracking how they felt after doing different physical activities, spinning participants came up as the “second-best” for reducing negative mental health endorphins! Working out like a famous athlete super-star David Beckham has its own motivation but knowing it can have you feeling better is a great incentive too!
Yoga fanatics aren’t just making headlines for the limelight, they are hitting the yoga mat because the mental and physical health benefits can be so influential that once you start, it’s hard to stop! While you may not end up on the cover of The Sun or the Inquirer, you may see Matthew McConaughey, Justin Timberlake, Gisele Bundchen, Kate Hudson, or really, any celebrity on the cover striking a pose! Why? Because yoga is a perfect blend of training the body and the mind. Adding in a yoga practice is a fantastic opportunity to relieve stress in the body and mind, and increase strength, balance, and flexibility all while learning techniques you can use outside the yoga studio! The Wellness Center has yoga classes in Newport, Troy, and Barton to try to help our locals have access to the star’s favorite workout!
Sure, the seasons are changing and you, well, may not be. While we can’t prevent the leaves from changing or the temperatures from dropping, you can control yourself! If you were hoping to see yourself in a new way this year, try something new, get more active, or increase your own health and wellness, what are you waiting for? The months are slipping by! If a Hollywood actor can find time outside of filming 16 hours a day, hair and makeup, interview, and learning lines for a yoga class, chances are you can too! Or recommit to what you used to do. If it’s good enough for the stars, surely, it’s good enough for us!
